Established in 1975, the Hesley Group provides flexible, specialist residential services and schools. We aim to offer the best possible care, education and vocational opportunities for young people and adults, often with autism, who have a learning disability and complex needs including behaviour which may challenge.

We have an established team of clinicians including psychology, speech and language therapy, applied behaviour analysts, occupational therapists and assistants. Our team of psychologists make a key contribution to our capacity to provide effective person-centred positive behaviour support for our clients by working with other members of our multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic input to clients and consultancy to staff, and provision of training for support staff.

Due to recent expansion within our service, there is an opportunity for a new role.  We are recruiting a Clinical Psychologist to work within our two children’s services and two independent specialist colleges, close to the Doncaster area. You would be joining a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who already works within these services, plus a team of three other qualified Clinical Psychologists across the group.

The people we support in these services can range in age from 8-25 years old. They require support with a range of specific needs, including: issues relating to trauma, attachment and loss; emotional health and wellbeing; behaviour that challenges; identity and relationship development.  Support may be delivered via individual therapy sessions, but is often carried out indirectly through staff training and consultation.  This variety means that every day is different and interesting, but also challenging at times.  We are looking for someone with a sound understanding of positive behaviour support, who is able to provide wide-ranging psychological assessments and interventions, drawing on a range of theoretical approaches.  Continued professional development would be available, including any specialist training required.

You will have experience of specialist Psychological assessment and interventions with clients and staff teams across a range of care settings, with a focus on learning disability, autism and complex needs and relevant post-qualification training.

The successful candidate will have Doctorate level training in Clinical Psychology or a statement from the BPS of equivalence of qualifications to BPS requirements for practice as a Clinical Psychologist in the UK.

For an informal discussion please contact Zoe Bradshaw, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, on 01302 866906.
