Assistant Horticulturist  (Experienced Gardener)

40 hrs p/w
6 weeks paid holiday

Hesley Village is a specialist residential service providing high standards of accommodation, personal care and support for adults aged 18 years and over all of whom have a learning disability, often together with autism and complex needs including behaviour that may challenge.

Within Hesley Village, we now look to recruit an Assistant Horticulturist. The successful candidate will work alongside, and be led and supported by our Horticulturist. You will also work in conjunction with other grounds maintenance staff at times.

We are looking for a competent and experienced gardener. There will be plenty of opportunity to develop existing areas, so someone with ideas and enthusiasm would be ideal. You must be great at general grounds maintenance, with a good eye for detail and an ability to see a task through to completion. But there is so much more to the role.

The post holder will work with the people who live within the Village and others that use our service, to provide life enhancing opportunities. You will provide horticultural activities, to stimulate, encourage and enhance their lives. Experience of working with people with complex needs or people whose behaviour can challenge would be of benefit, but not essential.

It is essential that you hold a relevant formal Qualification- Level 3 Diploma/HND/Foundation Degree as well as experience in commercial grounds maintenance.

The successful candidate will be reliable, punctual and have the willingness to work as part of a team. You must hold a current driving license.

This is a great opportunity for the right individual to join an established provider and make a considerable impact on the lives of the people who use the service.

For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Jenny Driver on 01302 866906.
